WHEN MORNING LIGHTS THE EASTERN SKIES
     (tune: When Morning Lights)

Music by Christopher M. Lee (2008)
Text from The Psalter (1912), alt.
Themes/imagery in text: guidance, trust, the heavens (skies)
Scriptural reference: Psalm 143:8

Text:
(Refrain:)
When morning lights the eastern skies,
O Lord, your mercies show;
on you alone my hope relies,
let me your kindness know.

1. Teach me the way that I should go;
I lift my soul to thee;
for refuge from the raging foe
to you, O Lord, I flee.
Refrain

2. You are my God, to you I pray:
teach me your will to heed,
and in the right and perfect way
may your good Spirit lead.
Refrain

3. For your name’s sake, O gracious Lord,
revive my soul and bless,
and in your grace and faithful love
redeem me from distress.
Refrain
