SING THE DEEP, DEEP LOVE OF JESUS
Anthem for SATB Choir and Organ

LEVEL: MEDIUM EASY
Music by Christopher M. Lee (2009)
Text by Samuel Trevor Francis (1834-1925), alt.
Themes/imagery in text: love, salvation, living water
Scriptural Reference: Ephesians 3:17-18

Description:
S. Trevor Francis's adoring text explores the gift of Christ’s love through richly poetic and immediately accessible language. This choral setting starts humbly in chant-like fashion, builds through flowing lines and soaring sopranos, and finally eases to warm repose on the final "Amen."

Text:
1. Sing* the deep, deep love of Jesus,
vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
in its fullness over me.

2. Underneath me, all around me
is the current of his love;
leading onward, ever homeward
to that glorious rest above.

3. Sing the deep, deep love of Jesus,
spread his praise from shore to shore!
How he died to save his loved ones,
watches o’er them evermore.

4. Sing the deep, deep love of Jesus,
love of ev’ry love the best;
‘tis an ocean vast of blessing,
‘tis a haven sweet of rest.

5. Sing the deep, deep love of Jesus,
for my heav’n of heav’ns is he;
this my everlasting glory --
Jesus’ wondrous love for me!

                                   - Samuel Trevor Francis, alt.
