Chris was selected to receive a Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award and to attend the 2013 Yale Symposium on Music in Schools. From a pool of nearly 300 nominees representing 45 states, 50 recipients were chosen by a panel of music professionals for outstanding accomplishments and vision as public school music teachers. "Sunrise Along Shore" (version for mixed choir and piano) was selected for performance at the 2013 Westfield Festival of New Music. This new version for SATB choir and piano was performed by the Westfield State University Chorale, Allan Taylor, director, in a Festival concert on March 3, 2013 at Dever Stage on the campus of Westfield State University (MA).
"Prelude and Groove" for Tuba-Euphonium Quartet is featured as the title track on a beautiful new CD from Alchemy, the group who commissioned the work and premiered it back in 2000. The CD was released in February 2012, following the group's annual tour of Northern Germany, and is available through iTunes or CD Baby.
